Carbon Fibre/Metal Hybrid Components |
|||
| CRP hybrid components are metal parts partially reinforced with carbon fibres. Compared with pure CRP components, significant improvements can be achieved with the CRP hybrid technology with respect to costs and damage tolerances, while retaining the main advantages of carbon fibre components, such as |
|||
| - High rigidity and strength
- Low specific weight - Low thermal expansion - Good vibration resistance & material damping |
Carbon Fibre/Metal Hybrid Components
| The starting material is preferably aluminium, e.g. in the form of commercially available extruded profiles and milled or lathe parts that are partially reinforced with carbon fibres in line with the customer’s demands. CRP reinforcement is effected by bonding in of prefabricated CRP strips (prepregs) or by directly depositing liquid resin laminates onto the parts. The depositing of CRP liquid resin laminates is to be preferred to the use of prepreg material due to the lower costs and easier handling. |
- Supports for high dynamic loads
| The carbon fibre reinforcement of metal parts reduces their dimensions (dead weight), improves the bending behaviour and increases the intrinsic frequency. |
|||
| - Rolls and shafts | |||
| The defined carbon fibre reinforcement of tubes reduces their dead weight and bending andimproves in particular the intrinsic frequency while retaining the permissible torsional moments. |
|||
| - Kinematic parts | |||
| The CRP reinforcement of levers and bars, e.g. of aluminium, significantly improves their mechanical properties. |
